Coagulation neutralizes particle surface charge—typically using salts like ferric chloride or aluminum sulfate—while flocculants (synthetic polymers) bridge particles into larger aggregates. The process is facilitated by controlled mixing and retention time in flocculation basins or tanks. Preparation and dosing systems ensure precise polymer concentration (typically 0.05–0.2%) and solution viscosity via dry- or liquid-feed systems, often with automated maturation and storage tanks.
